"TRON" ref's, please?

I am seeking references about the 25 y.o. movie, TRON. Was this movie filmed on such a low-budget that it didn't hit the Hollywood scene as strongly as it's predecessor (JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR) or did it never "catch enough steam" to reach a broiling point during that year (1982)?
